An Unforgettable Night, a Turning Point in My Life

It was the last Friday of February, 1994.

A night vigil at the Assemblies of God Church—the same unfinished building where, just months earlier, I had surrendered my life to Christ. The atmosphere was thick with prayer, voices rising and falling like waves.

That night, the pastor made a call: “If you desire the baptism of the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, come forward.”

I stepped out, but without expectation. I wasn’t sure anything would happen. As I watched others pray and suddenly burst into tongues, my mind whispered, “That’s for them, not for you.”

But then, without warning, it happened.

Something broke loose inside me. Words I didn’t understand began to pour out of my mouth. My lips moved faster than my mind could keep up with. I was no longer in control of my own voice—yet I wasn’t afraid. A river was flowing, and I was caught up in it.

That night, everything changed.

From that moment, I had a new strength to face life—especially the temptations that had once felt impossible to resist. Even the pull of sexual temptation began to lose its grip, as I learned to conquer it one day at a time. And then came boldness—this fearless courage to share my faith without shame, without hesitation.

That Friday night is etched forever in my memory. The night heaven touched me. The night the Spirit filled me. The night my life took a turn for the better—forever.
